Hi, I am new to this site and have a problem with my S reg 2.5 V6. Now and again the alarm will trigger but only when it is raining hard. This can happen whilst driving, embarassing, or when stationary, equally embarassing if in traffic. Everything still works when this happens. Can I simply disconect the horn located on the drivers bulkhead?

Yep, disconnect & remove the powersounder

Thank you. I have a haynes that says there is a powersounder under the wheelarch of the f/n/s wheel. what is this?

Wrong  ;D
Power sounder is, as you say, under the driver's side of the scuttle.  :y :y

Power sounder is, as you say, under the driver's side of the scuttle.  :y :y


Where most vauxhall power sounders are, BUT......

I started to strip my V6 CDX today and there is some sort of power sounder in the front N/S wing

Disconnecting the power sounder alone will not stop the alarm going off as the sounder and horn work in tandem. That said it's well worth while removing the power sounder all together to prevent your Omega bursting into flames :o
As to the alarm going off whilst driving it sounds like a short somewhere because it should not activate when the ignition is turned on.

I thought they did, so the one under the bonnet is the horn right? and the one under the wing is the alarm sounder? the one that beeps when the battery is low?

The power sounder is under the scuttle panel behind the offside strut mounting. If yours has started to emit a number of beeps thats a sign that the internal batteries are on there last legs and it is well recommended to remove the whole sounder(not just disconnect it) to prevent the risk of fire. The job whole takes about half an hour.

No. ;) The power sounder is under the scuttle along side another horn which is also for the alarm. The car horn is a pair of horns under the nearside of the front bumper/wing. :y

Yeah thats what I thought, but this dont look like the "Normal" vauxhall pair of horns. its more like a black box with vents on the top like a speaker

You can see the normal car horn at the front, but the other bit looks more like a hamster wheel type fan to me.  :-/ :-/
