For Sale: '96 Omega Estate 2.5TD Manual
At long last the time has come for the Omega to move on as its replacement has now arrived ('03 530d Sport) so it is up for sale after just over 4 years of my ownership. Photo is a few months old but give the general impression - there is probably just more rust now though. I am planning on getting the car cleaned out of my belongings this week and will give her a wash and take some up to date snaps before the weekend. Car is a '96 P reg CDX Estate with 210k. Has been serviced and maintained by myself since I got it on 145k - this involves oil changes every 4k with Vx goods and the usual service filters etc. It has MOT until Nov 11 and Tax until the end of March. New parts/Good points: - Replacement Crank Pulley - Late ‘10 - New (metal blade) Water Pump - Nov ‘10 - Replacement Lit Pump Assy - Summer ‘10 - Belt Tensioner - Summer ‘10 - Ally Tensioner bracket - Early ‘09 - Chip fitted - Early ‘09 (can easily be put back to standard spec if required) - Swan neck towbar with Twin electrics Bad Points: - Clutch has been slipping under full acc for about 10k and doesn’t have much life left. - NSF Wing took a whack about 3 years ago but appears to be galv so no rust just a bit wrinkled and some paint missing. - Rust around rear arches and lower part of rear screen - slowly getting worse. - Slightly sticking waste gate on turbo meaning that there is a temporary lack of power sometimes when you have been cruising at a set speed. A dip of the clutch to allow the engine to idle briefly soon frees it up and all is resumed. - Windscreen has a couple of chips and a good crack, although all of which are on the passenger side so have not caused any issues in the last few MOTs. General Notes: Interior all in OK condition, all electrics work as they should except for the MID which is a bit hit and miss in the old pixel department. OSF Wing, Drivers Door and passenger door have been re-sprayed (not particularly well) at some point prior to my ownership - they don’t look bad but the masking and finish were/are a bit poor. I know it is not worth a lot and that you can’t polish a turd, but if anyone is interested please feel free to make me an offer in the region of £350. If there is anything I haven’t covered, please drop me a line, a message or reply to the post and I shall get back to you as soon as I can. Kind regards Chris - 07590 774732 |

A couple of other things I thought of the other day, the Air Con wasn't cold when I had it and when the belt went I never replaced it so it hasn't seen any action for at least 18 months now. Might just need a service and belt fitting - might need a whole lot more.
Front 2 tyres were new in November and have seen about 2k ish by my reckoning. Rear tyres were new for the November before (both at MOTs) so they are slightly more worn but all in good nick. Spare is a Dunlop and has plently of life and holds its pressure. Car is getting a clean out at present so I am still on track to have some photos up this week. |

Needs a new aux belt?? Are they the same or different to the belt on the v6?? Or do the diesels have a seperate aircon belt? I'm not that used to them

Main belt was replaced when tensioners were done so it is fine. The aircon has a seperate belt that runs from the crank pulley direct to the aircon compressor only and has its own tensioner. I did have a old one but I think that is long gone now. I seem to remember they were about £8 from Vx.

Sorry about the delay in getting the photos up, my entire week didn't quite go to plan! Popped out this morning for a run and took some snaps:

Just had a look at the pictures and noticed that my Miggy must have come from the same dealership as the letters are the same as the number plate on my CDX estate just the numbers are 742 :o
