Title: Broken ABS ECU Wanted
Post by Albs the oppressed on 24. Mar 2011 at 23:19
If anyone has replaced their ABS ECU because it had the usual symptoms - no speedo/ABS.TC - I am on the lookout for one, as there is a possibility I might be able to get them repaired cheaper than the usual routes.
Need a problematic one to fiddle with to find out if its reasonably possible.
Willing to pay postage costs and possibly a little more if need be.
Tia.

Dont know what that is Mark, but I will ask. That might stop the idea in its tracks though. Will find out on weds. :y
It is all way over my head, but there are people at work who know a fair bit about such  things.
If I get any technical questions on the subject I might drop you a PM if thats OK ? :y

Sure, no problem.

Soldering does not work sadly due to the presence of a conformal gel coating and the type of metal used within the housing.

You need something like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hybond-Inc-572A-06S6-20-08R-15A-Wire-Bonding-/330542526746?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf5deb11a

I remember trying one at a semiconductor exhibition. Looked very easy, basically line up and press the trigger. However if the kit will cost £10K you will need to fix a lot of ECU's to pay it off.
