Title: Feels good to have helped someone out Post by GooseMan on 02. Apr 2011 at 20:01
Had a friend couple of days ago tell me that his 70yr father-in-law has been having some issues with his Omega, which he loves driving (it’s a very tidy one to ;) ).
Anyhow, his son was told by a dealer that the door locking issue would require a whole (as in being ripped off) new complete door locking mechanism, and the as the key fob was very warn, it'll have to be a complete new key fob at 'ex amount', again you can guess how much. Well not so... I had a spare door solenoid and together we took the locking mechanism out of the door, replaced the solenoid. Fitted the whole mechanism unit back in the door... Job sorted and working again... Cost to the owner Zero :y. As for the key fob, got an old key/key fob, returned back later, changed the gubbins from the old worn one and I mean worn, as the boot membrane part on the fob pad had completely worn through :o. The micro buttons on the circuit have come a little loose, so I've got to fix that properly and told my mate to get his father-in-law to use the spare one for now. But fixed it enough to drive home... Again cost nothing but returning a favour for a friend. ... result, the owners not very happy knowing he would of been ripped off by the dealer, but now a very happy bunny as he's got his beloved car back and working a treat. Feeling rather chuffed and pleased right now.... ::) |
