Title: It isn't just Vauxhall
Post by Darth Loo-knee on 04. Apr 2011 at 18:57
I ordered all the parts to fix this Peugeot 206 Gti the other day. So parts arrive. The job is started to build back up. Fitted the water pump without the head on as you have valuable space. Once fitted I decide to spin it. . . We no go. .  Remove it to find the impelled is catching on the pump housing. . Compare the old with the new and the impelled is 6mm bigger on the new.  .  Now if for instance I had not checked and like the Omega 2.0/2.2 the water pump is spun by the Cambelt, could have I had bent valves again . .  Maybe. . Not so much as a thank you from the moron on the phone when I was breathing fire  >:(

So no it isn't just Vauxhall Parts Assistance that are crap  :-?

Thats why is a good idea to quickly compare the new with old part before you fit it, just incase. quite a few times ive been given the worng part, from either vauxhall or local motor factors, it happens alot unfortinantly  :(

Everything looks the same other than the impellor when you look really close >:( apparently they had had some trouble with them so why not take them off the shelves??

Had a similar issue with a w/p for a mk2 grandad. The casting was identical, but the impeller sat about an 8th too deep in to the block. Could never have fitted it like that though as the w/p bolts were too short to bite properly. ::)

Daz,be really careful when tightening up that new pump, the water pump housing on those engines is made of a shite bakelite type material which cracks very easily, don't ask me how I know :-[ :-X
