Title: EU wants electric F1 Post by Nickbat on 05. Apr 2011 at 13:19
That'll be exciting, then. Besides which, it's already been done with Scalextric. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formulaone/article-1373180/F1-asked-EU-set-new-electric-car-series.html But what's the EU doing getting officially involved with a sport? Is there any aspect of our life that doesn't involve the EU these days? ::) ::) |

The EU have only asked F1 to help set it up, being experienced in "racing", not dictated that F1 should become electric. I think you're jumping on the anti-EU wagon a little harshly there Nick :-/ ::)

They are trying to show(educate) us about how exciting electric vehicles can really be.
It will have to be a short race. ;D |

its a good way of developing the technology quickly - either that or we go back to the horse and cart ;D

I think I've got that ::) ::) But, as stated, it would be a good way to push the technology forwards... Would I watch it? If I wasn't busy, probably :y |

Well, they're already using KERS so I guess it's only a matter of time.:-/ Mind you, I can't imagine 26 or so cars sitting on the starting grid in complete silence waiting for the lights to go out!! ::)

electric will be the way forward. might as well do it sooner than later. 16 hour pit stops for cars needing to charge may get a bit tiring to watch though ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, I for one am glad I witnessed the heydey of F1 with big engines and power slides. I'm sure I could never have got so excited about electric cars: Murray Walker: "...and here comes Mansell on the final lap of this enthralling 10-lap marathon. He's miles ahead of the field and a win is certain...but, no, I can't believe it, he's blown a main fuse and is out of the race!" ;) |

It may not happen as apparently there are issues with the noise regulations.
They can't get anywhere near them. :D |
