Title: Irmscher Steering Wheel on ebay.
Post by belldarr on 10. Apr 2011 at 07:24
I spotted this on ebay - looks genuine and it's the aluminium and leather version with multi-function controls  - I know I looked for months for my wood and leather version so this may be of interest to someone with an MV6.  Only £50 so far but 8 days to go.

Seen it already.

I knew it wouldn't stay quiet for long and someone would let it out the bag on here  ;D

I think it'll end up going for around the £100 mark (or more) somehow as on the german site they are going for around the £300-£500 mark!  ::)

Are you gonna bid on this? If you are I`ll leave it alone so as not to tread on any toes, no point in me bidding against you, all that achieves is a higher price  ;)

I think there's going to be a fair few watching this one and it'll be interesting to see what it goes for?  :D .  Be funny though if it went for more than what the car it's going on is worth  ;D

Well good news for those that are interested in it. I will not be watching it or bidding on it.

Now if it had been a fake wood one I would have wrestled my own grandmother for it  ;D ;D

I have got an identical one sat here in my "car cupboard",probably in slightly better condition .

Now if a wooden effect one came up for a swop I would also wrestle your grandmother/grandfather and most of your family !!

If the wheel is one with radio controls take it off and sell it to amba he's been after one for what seems like forever the poor fellas dying to get his hands on one and i think he's in need of some luck with this i've try and am still looking for one for him.  Then just put a normal wheel on the estate and re-sell you would prob get more cash that way anyway. :y

Beats me why anyone would pay hundreds of pounds for a steering wheel. :-/

I won't pay hundreds of pounds, that is probably why I can't get one. Irmscher are still (or where a couple of months back)flogging off new ones at £500ish. Few Omegas are even worth £500 these days. But do Irmscher drop the price, no they don't. So rather than flog them off at cost and give a few people a bit of happiness they will probably end up in landfill when all the Omegas are gone.

Buy it and " paint " the wood effect on .
I did mine two years ago from a mock carbon finish wheel.

Don't know either - used Vectra GSI as the search criteria on ebay and got mine for £40 (and has radio controls). :-?

Irmscher UK insist on charging LOTS of money. No need for that at all :-/

Well it's jumped up to a lot now and I wouldn't pay that for a steering wheel, no matter how rare it is  :o .

Back to square one then  ::)

just seen that the original post with the link has been 'moderated' It was my understanding that all links to items on eBay were OK as long as you didn't have a vested interest, ie you were linking to your own sale. So why has the original eBay link now been removed?  :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

if it's any consolation there is a go-faster 'V6' steering wheel available for a Smart Roadster. I know someone who has recently  paid almost £600 for one.  :o :o :o :o :o

Statement..." Fools and their money " tends to spring to mind....although I suppose if you have got it to spend and it "floats your boat" why not.

He's a single bloke, a teacher at a fee paying grammar school so I guess he's quite well paid and has enough to float is boat ............. somewhat more than I'd be willing to spend.  ;) ;)

Let's be honest, most of the money seems to be going on the 'name' on the steering wheel.  There are other nice designs out there where you're not spending a fortune just to turn the wheels.

Slightly off topic, but maybe the younger one's on here may not know what I'm on about or remember.  But for us oldies, do you remember in the 70's when hot rods/custom cars (and a fair few escort mk1's  ::) had those fashionable 'chain-link' steering wheels.
Car only driveable when optimum temperature, winter too cold to steer, summer thick gloves to steer!  ;D
