40,000 miles or 4 years on all petrol Omega's.
Without fail. |

Changing the water pump is peculiar to this sight as respect to a V6 and isn't really neccessary ( I know the reasons but don't agree) and concidering the price of an OE pump, even on TC would make me even more inclined to not fix what's not broke. Which is better, a cheap(er) generic pump or a used OE pump ................. there's only one way to find out ;D ;D ;D ;D |

Andy, the OP is asking about a 2.2 on which the water pump is cam belt driven so should be replaced with the belt kit :y

Does the water pump need to be changed on the V6 with a cambelt change then, or is that optional/recommended or deff do it? Cheers :y |

For the sake of £35 I would replace it every time but I think Vauxhall do it every other cambelt change ;)

My apologies .......... I've not read the post properly again ::) ::) ::) It's good policy on 4 cylinder cars to have the water pump changed with the cam belt. If you're paying someone to do the cam belt ie you can't/won't do it yourself, then change the water pump. If you're doing it yourself & don't mind covering old ground by accessing the water pump again, then I wouldn't replace the pump as a matter of course. AIMHO ;) ;) |

but I'm sure a Vauxhall water pump isn't £35 any more :-/ :-/ :-/ |

On a v6 - I agree. Dont see the point of taking off a perfectly good VX pump and putting a pattern one on, just in case the VX one wears out at some point in the future. It was probably a good idea when genuine pumps were cheap as chips, but as you say, they arent cheap anymore. :y |

I'll stick with a part used OE pump rather than swap it for a pattern pump. ;) ;) |

As said, it depends if you're paying someone else. I'll stick with 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' ;) ;) ;) |
