Just confirm that this car is way over priced ... even if it's lpg estate. ;)

Nice car though - what else could you get for the money? |

There was a thread on ABS a while ago about the prices of classic Vauxhalls compared to equivilent Fords. The point seemed to be that the Vauxhalls / Opels don't seem to hold the same value and there really isn't a reason why they shouldn't.
Omega is now going down the worthless slope due to fuel costs and the World thinking that scrapping your car and buying a new smaller one will save the planet (Don't start me on that one!). It'll reach the same territory as Senators and Carltons eventually but I guess that's a few years away at present. The good side of lots of cars being scrapped is there are plenty of spares to keep ours running for now! While that estate is up for good money, if your in the market for a large RWD estate with a decent engine it'd still tempt me because, as Martin says, 'What else could you get for the money?' |

Yes, it's more than I'd want to pay but I wouldn't say it's ridiculously overpriced if it's in A1 condition and fully serviced etc ;) ;)

It's overpriced because it hasn't got a towbar fitted ;D

A detachable would be easy to sort out. Apparently it had a VSi system fitted at around 8000 miles at a cost almost £2000+vat ....... :o :o Toroidal tank fitted in the spare wheel well which means the boot floor has been lifted 2". Seems a daft idea to lose the flat load area by raising part of it. :-/ A black interior would look nicer too. ;) |

That and the fact that mine doesn't do many miles per annum is what puts me off lpg on the estate |

If you were in the market for a big estate though.... What would a similar age/milage BMW 5 series or Merc cost?

I typed a replay to this yesterday but don't seem to have posted it so I'll go again ::) ::)
Yes, it's a little more than I'd want to pay but it does tick (almost) all the boxes on my requirements and if I wasn't watching the pennies at the moment I would seriously be considering a visit to discuss it ;) ;) At the end of the day, it's a late registered 3.2 estate that has already had the money spent for a LPG conversion... I don't think it's hideously overpriced, as long as it is in good condition and the servicing is all up to date, but it is a very good starting point for negotiation ;) ;) |

I'm assuming it's a Prins VSi system, which is one of the best if fitted correctly ;) :y It's not on the LPG database so gives a little room for negotiation, plus all the usuals... I'd probably pitch in at around £3k and go from there ;) |

Title: Re: eBay Omega estate Post by Dazzler on 25. Apr 2011 at 18:07
Not on the data base? Tell me more please. Does it mean its not registered as lpg?
Was going to start at 3k if it was a clean one. Can't see it till early May tho. So will just have to wait and see. |

Yep, although that doesn't mean anything as the database is very slow to get updated with cars that are already converted ::) ::) If you have a cert or the V5 says Petrol/LPG it's free to get it added though ;) ;) |

Is this VIS system better than the Teylo one? Are parts easy to get hold of and can the software be mapped easily?

Sorry... Missed this last night! The Prins system is one of the best on the market, if it's fitted properly! Unfortunately it is very hard to get anything other than service parts for it as they only sell within the industry and, AFAIK, getting hold of the software for it is nigh on impossible :( :( But... Like I said, if it's been fitted properly it is one of the best systems. It's a mid-high end kit instead of the budget kit we fit from Teilo :y Not that there's anything wrong with the budget kits... They do the job :y And now that we've managed to get the right combination of components, does the job very well... Ask TB about the conversion we've just done on his Elite :y |

Been to see the car today.
Needs rear panel and tailgate spraying due to corrosion :( . Needs both wishbones doing and a full geo. Inside needs a good tidy up(bck of front seats coming off????) Body quite good. Needs a service( no surprise there) But my biggest bone is the fact it had NO GAS in it ffs >:( . He would only drop £500. Not of enough discount for me. |

Would he not stick some LPG in to try it ::) ::) If he'd only drop £500 for all that then it's probably best to walk away ;) ;) |
