Title: Hanging up the keys for a while
Post by Dan282 on 19. Apr 2011 at 20:49
Not been on for a few weeks.

Giving the mig a rest for a while. Im current travelling from Dudley to Stoke 6 days a week and cant afford the fuel nor want to put heavy mileage on it.

Now temporarily using a T plate fiat Punto that i bought for £250 from work as a part exchange.

Its not till you drive a £250 punto you realise what a proper car omega are but at the moment i cant afford £100 a week in fuel. :'(

Will just use it at the weekend till i sort a job closer to home as im back living in dudley due to personal reasons.

your not alone  many people are doing the same  my neighbour now uses a 300 pound fiesta to commute and uses his 740 bmw at weekends  reckons it saves him a fair bit

I use a £400 eBay Astra for commuting to work. The Omega is a high days & holidays car ......... and once a week blast to work on a week end.  ;) ;) ;)

Yep same story here, 3.2 for the weekend and the DTi for the daily work commute.

the drawback of only using the Omega once in a blue moon for work, is that when I do, I tend to have to play  ::) ::) ::) because I can  :y :y :y

Er yes.  ;D

I do the same, also find it quite worrying how quickly the speed builds up on a motorway in a V6 Auto without you really noticing it... I have to pay attention to the speedo in the V6 after driving the diesel in the week.

It is when there's a marked 5 series catching you up and you glance down and see you've moved on slightly from the two figure numbers!

I use my 3.0 litre all the time including my 25 mile daily commute. Sod the expence :) its better than forking out for a nearly new mondeo as well as putting fuel in it :y

Sounds like you're not alone Dan, I think we'll all be doing the same the way the petrol prices are going  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Totally agree, by the time you`ve taxed, MOT`d and inured it then put fuel in it`s probably not far off the same expense.
I put 103k on my Senator in three years travelling to and from work, averaging about 29mpg.  :)

I was thinking the same, false economy surely?

I'm like Martin.
Every weekend I have to do 200 miles just to see my wife since she works in another country.
Thanks to LPG I have the same figures with the mig as I would jave with my fathers Octavia 1.9 tdi
