I have been looking around for some wheels to replace my ageing sport alloys. Now I would prefer to retain the OE look but it would seem that prices for well looked after 16 or 17" Vx alloys are pretty high on the bay:

Add in the fact that they are new and hopefully more relaible that a second hand pair that may or may not have been repaired

But I suppose the question is whether they would fit. PCD seems ok, but the offset is ET38. I am pretty sure my 17" alloys are ET33. In addition would 6.5J be the right width to maitain original 16" tyre spec?

Any help would be appreciated. Dont want to end up buying the wrong size alloys.

don't know whether the extra .5 makes a huge difference in what tyres you can put onbut my registration states 6.5j for 205's so should be alright the big question is with an et of 38 will you get rubbing? from what i understand i maybe fully wrong is that an etof 38 should sit further away from the suspension than an et of 33 but decide for yourself have a look at this website

The lower the offset the further out the wheel will sit.

omega wheels differ form many Vectra wheels for instance in that the equivalent vectra wheel may on have an offset of 49, which makes it sit very far in on the omega.

So does that mean that there is a good possibility that the irmscher wheels would rub? I thought I had seen someones car on here with Irmscher wheels with a ET38 offset.

Depends on the width of the rim, the difference between the et33 and et38 is only 5mm but the difference between a 6.5j and a 7j rim is 12.5 mm so a 6.5 inch rim with a et38 offset would be further away from the strut than a 7 inch rim with et33 offset.
I have some 7 inch rims with a et40 and these don`t rub but this effectively narrows the track by 14mm which is why I`ll be putting some wheels on with the correct et33 offset.
