Title: Kit Car Show - Stonley Park
Post by JamesV6CDX on 03. May 2011 at 10:56
Did anyone attend the Kit Car show at Stonley park over the last 2 days? Didn't see anyone, I half expected Kevin to be there looking for westie bits!

Very worthwhile, I went with the old man in law, - I will be helping him build a Sebring next year hopefully, should keep me out of trouble!

He wants a BMW 3.0 S6 in there, but it would really be a shoehorn, I'm trying to bend his arm into a Rover V8  8-)

We went a few years ago - actually more like 20 as it was before we had the kids!! Would fancy another trip sometime, great that the kit car scene has survived threats from legislation etc

I normally go, camp overnight and have a good p*ss up, but didn't get round to it this year. :-/

It's a great show./ Lots of cars to see and and junk to come home with.

Mrs. KW has always liked the Sebring. Might get round to building her one one day. I think a straight 6 would be more fitting, and probably offer more grunt than a Rover V8 these days. The V8 is probably lighter though.

Be rude not to consider a Senator straight 6 too. ;)

Kevin

Why, you'd be better off with an Omega V6 ;)

I fully intended to go this year so I could go round all the Cobra kit manufacturers and try them all on for size (since I already know the AK is a bit of a squeeze and the Dax is roomier, but I'd really like to try the GD and a Ram as they have a spaceframe/backbone chassis rather than ladder frame)..

But the two folks who were going with me ended up ill, and I didn't really fancy going on my tod :(

I camped over on the Saturday and got sunburnt on the Sunday, there were about 100 Cobra's on the pitch next to us throughout the day. Had seen all I wanted to and bought a few bits so did not stay for the Monday.

I fancy the Sebring TMX myself, but it will be a pipedream until I win the lottery  :-/

Yeah someone on the Cobra Club website said there were 100+ on the Sunday.. even more peeved I didn't bite the bullet and go, now!

Oh well, gives me an excuse to drive up and visit GD/Crendon/AK (already been to Dax) personally I suppose ;D (Forgetting Ram for a moment since I'm not sure if you can actually still get hold of them, or if it's just after-sales support now)

If only you could be party to some of the high jinx that happens between rival kit car clubs after a few beers on the Sunday night. But sadly, on an open forum... :-X

Might be up for that if I have a functional kit car. ::)

Haven't been to that one before.

Ahh, I thought Detling  had come and gone but obviously not. A smaller affair but well worth a visit.

Hmm Detling isn't far away (distance, I mean, not time :)) .. might take a jaunt over to that one. AK, DJ & GD all in attendance.

Newark is a bit far away, though.. and no Dax there.

Although I was looking at GT40 pictures earlier.. ah.. if only I could fit into one!  :-[
