Title: LPG Conversion
Post by John-R on 28. May 2011 at 19:29
Seriously considering an LPG Conversiom on my 03 2.6.
It's done 67000 miles with some major bottom end work by Darth at 58000 (yep still sweet as a nut).  :)

Wondering if anyone has experiences to share and any recommendatioms in the Liverpool area.

Thanks
John

I can only say its a good thing. Saves money. Lots. But how much depends on the mileage you do. The more miles you do the more you save, and the faster you get your investment back on buying the kit.
The tank is a problem for some people. Mine is a saloon and the tank is in the boot with a carpet over it, and I cannot say it causes me any bother. I hated the thought of losing a lot of my boot space, but, in practice, how often do you load the car to capacity. The alternative was to throw the car away.

Main question, are you considering haveing a firm do the job or DIY? If the former you must really really vet their standards, one key factor I know of is the inlet manifold requires nozzles drilling & tapping into the 6 cylinder inlets most firms do this with the manifold in situ I think with respect to the risk of some metal swarf entering the cylinders is very real. With regard to the latter DIY option you will find our forum has an absolute wealth of info in the posts mainly General Car Chat, and don't forget the Maintenance Guides section, also last but not least there is the experts on the forum with lots of guidance and expertise :y :y
