Title: How to on Camshaft change Post by rajveer.sandhu on 21. Jul 2011 at 13:45
Is there a How To anywhere for changing Camshafts on a 3.0v6 to all G-Cams?
Had a look in the maintenance section but I could not find one. |

What will happen if you replace the cams? As I've known till now it only works in case of 2.5 V6s (more power), or Am I wrong?

if im right, the g cam has a longer valve event time. =more air on induction, however, dont think it would make much difference if it cant get out any quicker on the exhaust event......i may be wrong ::)

Anyway you can find all information in HAYNES. You need a cam lock kit to install timing belt again.

I suspect 4 G cams will, at best, make sod all difference.
To do it though is all self explanatory. Engine safe, cambelt off, camcovers off, spockets off, cams replaced, refit. I lot of stuff is 8Nm, so a good low range torque wrench is reqd. Its critical the clamps do not get mixed. |

Yep. Intake cam is already a "G" so you'll only be changing the exhaust. Not worth the bother IMHO.

I'm changing the Exhaust Cams to G Cams and also fitting 3.2 Exhaust Manifolds with either a sports cat system or no cats at all (going to have a the tubes made so when it comes to MOT time I can bolt the cats back on).
Hopefully all of this will give me some difference in power and response. |
