I have a leek at the back of the engine and was told it may be the HBV,can anyone help on how to change it please?

basically locate it, looks like starship enterprise then release the clips holding the pipes to it, pull off pipes taking note of which one goes where, take off vacuum pipe on top then replace with new hbv  simples :y  oh and a box of plasters and swear box would be handy  ;D ;D

Wierd place to store a leek I reckon? Mobile grocer maybe?
( you may be new m8, but you are bound to get some stick with a spelling mistake like that one.... its all in good fun though and you have had the location of the How To so all should be well now.)

I just changed mine on my V6. Its not a hard job to do the worst part is just gaining access. You definately need the plasters to hand.

If you take the scuttle off its an easy job and no plasters are required.  Should only take 20 mins  :y

I took the scuttle and the plenum off, and the cable support bracket too, after it took the skin off my forearm. But I triumphed in the end!!!

I have done very little work on the car myself so am fairly ignorant as to home servicing,is there much involved in removing the scuttle

Its really quite easy, you should browse through the maintenace guides, there are step by step instructions for doing just about everything there. Its a fantastic resource.

I've no idea how you managed that ............. I didn't consider the job with the scuttle in place.  ;)

I did it for the first time last week using the excellent photo's and notes from the maintenence guides. If you get a mate to help it should take no more than about 45 mins and no loss of skin.

Relatively kerfuffle-free - ten minute job as long as the wipers co-operate.  Guide as Dad above ^^^.

Go carefully with the tacky plastic twist clips under the windscreen rubber as they break easily if you do anything Schwarzenegger with them.

I quite agree about the twist clips but they are available from main dealer
