Title: Hub Cap Lock Bolt Needed Post by Lesopc on 31. Jul 2011 at 01:54
Hi guy's, i have a F/L Miggy with the 7 spoke alloys fitted. These are the ones with a Vauxhall centre cap covering the 5 studs and held shut with a locking bolt. The prior owner seems to have lost 1 of these lock bolts (3 prong type) and replaced it with a standard bolt. Does anyone have a spare lock bolt?
IM me with price including P&P if you can help as this is a nuisance when getting new rubber as well as a risk in terms of wheel theft. Thanks. |

can you provide a photo of what you mean...
I cant picture a standard fl wheel that has a bolt cover though :-/ I think its just a locking bolt your after but not sure? and the position of the 3 holes varies on every car using these, so the next bolt (probably) wont fit your key... |

Please see the other reply with photo. I do believe that the 3 prongs are spaced out as a complete and equal triangle on these bolts/keys??? |

trouble may well be....gls's arent broken as much as others due to lack of saleable toys

Nothing sinister....Just the main sellers here buy Elites / CDX's for selling as spares as the more toys provide more income, there is less money to be made from a GLS so people with the parts you need will be fewer. guessing your best bet is someone who has upgraded their wheels, but even then may be unwilling to sell as it splits up a set. Good luck all the same, but at least you can get a new set for a reasonable price if needs be. You mention security.....I really dont think these will secure your wheels though - a pair of pliers , or 2 nails and a screwdriver is the max you need to remove them....no substitute for locking wheel nuts (not that they give you much more tbh) |

True enough, but it means they need to carry those tools with them which is still not entirely likely. It was worth the ask. |

have a look at your local scrapyard, that will be your best bet to get the locking bolt you are after, or as already suggested fleabay and get the set, at least you know the key will fit all the bolts :y

Fleabay is around a tenner for a set of 4 plus key, but these bolts a a standard lug spacing (exact triangle) meaning that any key should fit any bolt (????) as all the same. I was just looking to see if anyone has a single one no longer required instead of getting a whole set. I am looking into getting a spare 7 spoker and cap off fleabay to replace the ugly/odd black steel spare so i will probably now need 2 anyway as i have sourced both wheel and cap seperately without required bolt. Thanks again all. |

Are they the same ones that also were fitted to pre face lift CDX's ? If so I can help you out with some.

I have the same 'key' and bolts covering the wheel centres on my Vectra, it also has three prongs but I thought the spacing was slightly different from key to key? My key only fits home one way...

The locking bolts are supposed to be like a key, ie they're not all the same. New bolts are mild steel & will rust, I'd use a nice shiny M8 stainless cap head bolt due to the fact there's not really a market for your type of ally rim on the black market. Please don't take it as a slur against your style of wheel ...... just a fact. :y :y :y :y

They look like the bolts that hold the covers onto my pre facelift 15" wheels.
I've got some in my shed somewhere. I'll have a look for you over the next few days :y |
