Apparently tyres have their year of manufacture on them somewhere but I can not see where...anyone got a pic of what I'm looking for????

it's a 4 digit code. First two numbers are the week of manufacture, second two are the year.

Well you learn something new every day...I never knew they had manufacturing year on tyres or that they expired after 5 years...have always just replaced them when they broke! :y

I thought it was 6 yrs, but a car's tyres are usually fubar'd well before  :y

The spare wheel tyre had a manufacture date of 2002 and its brand new looking...I would agree though that generally tyres are put on cars, the cars are used and so the tyres dont last more than about a year or 2...although regularly much less

A tyre that's been hidden from the light will not have degraded any thing like one fitted to the car

Did someone tell me that tyre age is going to be a part of the mot from next year, or did I dream it?  :-/

Yes they are it's a 3digit code  normally in a oval after the letters DOT. If it has a small triangle in front of the 3 digit code then it was made in the 80s if there's no mark then it was made in the 90s. Same meaning though the first 2 nos are the week and the last no is the year.
