Title: My Subaru Live Re-Map Post by Darth Loo-knee on 06. Aug 2011 at 16:35
A Subaru Master Mr. Andy Forrest has taken a Trip from Scotland to Stoke-on-Trent today to work his magic on a few ECU Live Remaps. Mine was one of them......
The difference is unbelieveable.... First he put on his own ReMap (Base Map), then with a prob up the exhaust pipe plus computers plugged into the car & head phones connected to the engine off we went. At different speeds from 60 to cruising speed in 4th gear then 5th etc etc...... I have been pushed back into the seat when being a passenger, but hand on my heart Never as a driver....... I have pasted his webpage incase anyone is interested what sort of things he does :y :y :y http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/4436.html |

Mine you mean? He says from calculating the air through the Maf and fueling etc 330-340 bhp.. :y |

Title: Re: My Subaru Live Re-Map Post by Darth Loo-knee on 06. Aug 2011 at 17:08
When you think before today, with all the front mount, walboro fuel pump, 05 turbo etc etc it was 256bhp... so a jump of 70bhp straight away is a lot in my opinion, especially on a car that weighs about 1200kgs :y

Don't suppose he can work that out of an omega without slapping a turbo on by any chance...? For about £50...? ...thought not. ;D That's a healthy gain though. Good work. He must be raking it in. |

A friend of mine has recently had his engine re-built and he asked us to give him a hand to fit it...
He has a 2 door RA thing that goes like stink, a proper rally car for the road. He's just had it mapped after the running in period, the chap who mapped it has a very good reputation and travelled a long way to do the job, can't remember his name but it may have been the same bloke who re-mapped your car? His is up around the high 300 bhp mark, if memory serves... |

The size of the engine is very small indeed when the auxilaries are removed. :y

Title: Re: My Subaru Live Re-Map Post by zirk on 07. Aug 2011 at 23:18
You just need to keep her tip top now Daz, most Subaru's die after a remap through not being looked after properly.

;D It's not the size of the engine that's important, more the driver behind the wheel. ;) |

If you don't mind having a slightly violent clutch, see if you can find an Ogura ORC clutch for the Subrau - they rattle like a Ducati dry clutch, but will take an absolutely astonishing amount of abuse and the more you abuse them, the harder they stick..
Not cheap but beautiful pieces of kit - billet aluminium clutch cover, billet aluminium flywheel (with inserted steel contact patches).. e.g. http://community.weightwatchers.co.uk/LoadDown/UK/People/9e/9a/25a499f315b04d23ab6a71a1ae57f6b9_3.jpg?repository=1 |

Title: Re: My Subaru Live Re-Map Post by Darth Loo-knee on 10. Aug 2011 at 21:21
I have a juddery clutch that apparently is a racing thing, which I dont like being honest...
|
|
Title: Re: My Subaru Live Re-Map Post by aaronjb on 10. Aug 2011 at 21:29
Maybe not the ORC, then :) It's not juddery in take-up, it's just a bit snatchy unless you spin it up fast enough.. oh and makes a godawful noise when you have the clutch disengaged :-[
Took me a while to get used to it on the MR2, but boy does it stick.. even when I do a full-throttle-too-much-clutch-slip launch ;D |
