My steering fluid has a slight burnt smell to it, the level is also looking quite low. (barley makes it onto the stick when closed)
In my entire ownership i've never touched the PAS fluid! Whats the best way? Pop that man pipe off the bottom of the header tank? I don't see a guide, I can make one :y |

I normally pop the return pipe off the reservoir and plug the hole then extend the return pipe with a length of hose into a bucket and start engine, add fresh fluid until it runs clean into the bucket,re-connect pipe and re-fill system. That should get rid of most of the old stuff :y

Cheers Henry, big pipe at the bottom being the return pipe? Does the extended hose need to be pressurised or just a "loose" extension?
Thanks :y |

Whichever pipe that does not go to the pas pump is the return pipe, fluid wise dexron II plenty good enough. Not a lot of pressure into bucket at idle speed but plenty of flow :-? |

Don't do it on your nice tarmac or paved driveway in case of slight spillage ::)
