Title: stereo removal tool.
Post by Webby the Bear on 11. Sep 2011 at 00:12
hi guys, can someone remind me of the name of the tool to remove the stereo once the 4 little screws are out?

also once removed (and my new heater panel thing replaced) will it ask me to input my radio code?

cheers

Stereo removal tool is good enough for most of us  :y :y
Should do, depends whether the requirement for the code is turned on or not and also what flavour of radio fitted.  :y :y

I have used four thin allen keys (also long galve nails) in each hole and pulled out no problem. Just push in gently until you feel the 'click' of the clip releasing

Dont bother with a tool

Thems the things!  :y :y :y  (or as henry says  ;))
It is possible to use Allen keys & nails etc, but the proper tools do pull the unit out better  :y :y

Prefacelift and facelift need different keys.  In addition, facelift ones need good quality keys, unless you are unlucky enough to have a CDR2005

Leave me alone, I don't feel well :P

Actually, as I was on a phone, I didn't click the links.  Just trying to clarify, and clarify that facelifts need good quality tools, cheapies won't cut it without modifications

Neither are any use for facelifts.  For facelifts, GOOD QUALITY ones are essential, unless you have cdr2005.  The likes of the crappy Autoleads ones are NOT suitable.

All have the notches in, if they don't they are faulty.

If you have a cdr2005, yes, probably.

Anything else, I suspect you'll rip the facia off doing it.

Good luck :y

Can`t see why not I`ve removed a fair few units from Omega`s with cheapo double din tools and never had a problem

ccr2006 and ncdc's always stick like a blank for me.  So much so, I always ptfe spray the cages on refit.

ccrt2007/8 seem less prone IME, and cdr2005 just falls out.

Yes, Mrs VXL V6's Estate, Which went from a CDR2005 to a 2013, GID and Bose... was all going exceptionally well until a minor wiring issue caused Tech II not to communicate to program the screen followed by me removing more of the bezel than the HU, followed by the connector block bending, followed by buttons not working on the replacement bezel... Oh Joy!
