There have been a few threads about this problem recently, both on here and in THAT OTHER PLACE Smiley. These are the main points:

You can change the batteries but this doesn't always cure the problem.
I was told by my local independent that the power sounder has to be programmed to the ECU once disconnected.
The batteries are available from cellpacksolutions in Newcastle.
I have two batteries which I have decided not to use( as the beeps really dont bother me that much) and ,if anyone would like them, drop me a PM and they're yours.

Cheers, Steve

Been busy (house move n all) so didn't have time to try anything of the above.

Damn alarm has been sounding for the last 15 mins (1:47 am) soz neighbours.....

I do not use the fob or key to lock the doors i do it manually hopefully for a peaceful nights kip.. the alarm still sounds even if i DO NOT  lock the doors, the only way to keep it from sounding is  1. leave the ignition on( which i can't do while i'm asleep) and 2. disconected the earth (which i have done) all seems quiet now...

I was reading the car handbook(omega 2000/2001 it states.. fuse 13 (10A) is for mirrors, windows and anti -theft alarm....  if i remove this do you think it will help(quick fix) till i get it sorted.

Thanks again a very tired dave

Thanks all.... I bought a new unit today as we are caravanning over the weekend cost £49 but hopefully thats the end of the problem  seems ok at the moment.
I have the old unit so i can play around with that and open it up battery changing etc.

(facelift model) The unit is under the scuttle drivers side next to the shock absorber mounting. I removed the star screw holding the scuttle down (drivers side) and driver side rubber molding and one wiper which enabled me enough access to the unit (A black box, held down with one bolt).

No re- programming needed

Many thanks all.
Dave.

To All... if i manage to replace the batteries can i test the unit without fitting it to the car using a battery charger or do i need to fit it.
Thanks Dave.

Managed to open the unit, somehow the the area around  the batteries had melted. to poorer condition to fit the new ones, only place for it the bin. Undecided
