Cruise Control Upgrade

As in the title what would I need to get this upgrade fitted.

As mine is a 97P would I need to do many mods to get it to work.

Any responses would be most appreciated.

Cheers in advance

Roy

Cheers Marks DTM

I may go ahead with the upgrade, I know where I can get my hands on a stalk but the rest I shall have to have a look about for.

Would you say this is a mod worth having reason why I ask is I dont really do alot of motorway driving.

I generally do about 600 miles a week mostly on motorway and I find that unless its the early hours and the motorway is clear that cruise control is a waist of time

Cheers for the response Elite Pete

Been thinking about it myself and the only times I have been on the motorway as of late I have been stuck in traffic, may give this a miss for the moment.

Nice to know it can be done but I think I will wait.

I find it essential given the number of speed cameras these days.....set it to 40 in a forty zone and away you go.

One of the best mods you can do.....

Yep, I'm with Mark on this one.  I never use mine on the motorway, but in 30 or 40 limits, stick it on and you don't have to worry about your speed creeping up,  which in an Omega is hard to notice.

Well you both have sold on the plus's of getting it done, its just a case of funds and the bits to do it so may take a little while but will definately look into getting it fitted.

Cheers

Don't forget the ECU!

I use my cruise all the time. It is invaluable for long stretches of heavily speed restricted roads though!!  Cool

It's a seperate box AFAIK, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

The later models were controlled by the engine ECU, but IIRC, there's another ECU to control the actuator.

Slightly off topic - but does cruise control apply the brakes?
I have set mine to the limit in restricted areas, then rolled down a hill and seen it creep up by almost 10mph...
