Hmm maybe this will shed some light on things.....

Just took the car through the car wash and my passanger front foot carpet well is abousolutely soaking....ive scooped maybe two pints of water out Shocked

First thought was maybe ive got a dirty great big hole in the floor,however its just passed its MOT with flying colours so doubt thats the case,ive had a look at the window screen and therubber edging that seals the screen is loose...is it possible that water has been getting in there and running down the back of the dash.???

Im now off out to have a look at this drain hole...see if thats blocked,Fingers crossed i can find it..lol

Jul 2006 at 15:56 Look below the pollen filter - is that full of water? If so, drain is blocked, and all that water will end up on fan and controller...

Jul 2006 at 15:59 Yeh, drain hole blocked.......and will be the route cause of the ECC failure I suspect. The plastic windscreen edging into which the rubber surround clips is often loose, the only time its not is of the windscreen fitter has gone mad with the mastic!. You often havve to replace this when changing the screen.

Right bare with me im getting excited (First time ive ever actualy got my hands dirty Grin

)

Ok ive had a look under the pollen filter and scooped to one side about a mug fuel of oily dirt out of i assume the drainage hole....ive uncoverd what looks like a silvery gauze thing (looks like its meant to be there ?

Tried to Look under car to find the drainage hole but buggerd if i can find it....How far under is it and does car have to be jacked up (drive is on a slight slope and only have standard jack).

Pollen filter was a light grey colour and looks to me to be filthy...so once this drain hole is sorted will be replacing it.

Oh ive only lifted the flap where the pollen filter is so restricted space....not sure if that makes any difference.

Jul 2006 at 16:44 if its prefacelift, drain exit is via a rubber tube into wheelarch - you should see the rubber slit with steering on full right lock

Jul 2006 at 16:46 Its much easier to remove the rubber sealing strip along the front edge, ease back the lower rubber strip on base of the windscreen, turn the securing screws holding the cover 90deg and remove the left hand end of the cover. Easier to get in there then and rod it through....what year is it?

Jul 2006 at 16:58 I"ll run out side now before work and try both methords....just one thing should the hole at the top (bewlow pollen filter) have a silvery gauze on top of the hole. Or should it be free flowing all the way to the wheel arch.?

Forgot to say the car is a 1997....
Pics below is that the drain hole...yes thats thick greasy sticky dirt covering everything in the pictures.

Ok so look under wheel arch...cant see anything that looks like a drain hole...did see a tiny little hole but that looked more like a nipple,that was slighty towards the rear of the wheel arch.

I thought this would be a nice simple little job to start with........ Undecided

Yeah that pollen fit area...the black line in first pic is the edge of the pollen filter.

Theres so much dirt in there i could grow spuds.... Shocked

Right large cup of water chucked in and it came straight outunder the front wheel.

So if thats free flowing is it possible that the fan has got wet and stopped working or is another reason more likely.?
