Aircon/Heating problem
11. Aug 2006 at 15:28

The old girls not happy first the airbag light now this Cry. Last night the wife and the old girl went out and being nesh as most women are she wanted the heater on. When she got back she was moaning that the heater didn't work and me being me said it was something the wife was doing wrong. Today just to prove the wife wrong I put the heating on got nothing but cold air. First I tried to reset the aircon with holding the off and auto buttons down and this didnt help so a took the facia panel off and had a play. The only way to get hot air is to remove the yellow plug at the rear of the climate panel but if I do that there is hot air only. I have also noticed that the Temp display on the MID is reading -16.5 now I know the weather has taken a turn for the worse but I sure its not that cold. Has anyone got any ideas.

I would say check the connection to the air temp sensor on your front bumper, it could be your problem

Although I am not sure how the CC works as I have manual AC.

Certainly the temp sensor seems Donald Ducked. Clips under bumper, passenger side, right on the corner...

The climate system does measure outside air temp, not sure if its same sensor of not...

Would have thought so as well. If unplugging the ECC unit causes warm air, then either ECC is faulty or its getting duff signal. Tech2 is easy way to find out what sensor is giving odd reading if you know anyone nearby with one...

Even when using the climate control manually I couldn't get any warm air.

If you can get near hbv, is the hose going into bulkhead hot?

I think the problem is possibly a sensor or the ECU as I have upluged the yellow plug at the rear of the Climate Control panel and can now get hot air. I can also control the blower but now have no cold air.

I agree, but was wondering if the ECC was operating hbv to allow hot water into heater...

I think before you do anything else you need to correct the outside temperature sensor on the mid and get this working properly by replacing the sensor or sorting out its wiring to get it working. Once that’s working see how the climate system then behaves. The -16 reading maybe just the reading you get when there’s an open circuit. I would sort this out before going any further.
