Climate control query

Hey!

This problem got 'mulled' over on the 'other' Embarrassed site but need some more advice!

The problem is this: Aircon works fine-nice n cold! However, when I needed some heat back when I bought the car in march, it would only come when the CC was set to max. Not a problem at the minute but shortly will be due to harsh winters in the North East!

The general consensus was a faulty fan blowing air across the sensor for the CC (already tried hoovering it/reseting etc) as it would not hold a piece of paper acroos the sensor vent.

So,some guys say they soldered a new fan on with varying results, some replaced the unit, some did b*gger all!

Would a secondhand CC unit be the ideal fix? Bit confused as to what this actually is - seen a new CC fascia on ebay with all the dials & Sensor - is this all there is 2 it?    Shocked

Any fix would involve removing the unit-any tips?

Cheers

The cc control panel is a self contained unit and do appear on ebay from time to time......I also have a spare fan if its of any use (4 soldered connections).
