Fan Blower Clicking
14. Aug 2006 at 10:08

Having replaced my Radiator yesterday, last night I turned on the heating when I got home from a drive to make sure heating was nice and toasty still only to have the missus say theres a clicking noise coming from behind the airbag area.

Heating still works.

I am assuming the blower unit is the culprit and something has got caught up or its on its way out.

How easy is it to remove the Blower Unit?

Planning to have a look at it after work.

I assume putting the fan on full has not dislodged it. Unless its really bad, before rushing in to start dismantling I would leave it a few days as it may well resolve itself through general use.

Either way its behind the glove box and pretty easy to get at.

When I turn the heating on at any speed (manual dials) the clicking speeds up/slows down, when you say dislodged do you mean the unit is loose, if this is the case I need to have a look, I would try leaving it a few days but as its pretty loud its abit worrying.

I am guessing its located in the passenger footwell above the passenger side cover somewhere.

Sounds like something has got in there (dead leaf, etc) and is catching the fan blades.

How about removing the pollen filter and then point an airline in?  Give it a blast with the fan on full and all vents etc open.  Certainly worked for me on previous cars, but not sure it would on the Omega....  Could also try a 'reverse flush' with the airline, from the vents back?  Remember to duck to avoid the shredded leaf!!   Cool

Just a thought....

Had the heater fan running last night and for some reason there was no clicking, so I thought I would leave it till the weekend before touching it, or if comes back then i will have a proper look as it could be something or nothing.

I may even have a look tonight if I have time.

Undecided whats the most damage a leaf/something can cause to the blower, only if it going to make it worse the above option will definately go ahead tonight.

If it is a leaf then once its dried out, it will be shredded by the fan and the bits will be blown out the vents.  Take care the bits/dust don't get in your eyes whilst driving.
