After oil cooler change problems
16. Aug 2006 at 14:23

1995 2.5 cdx auto.
Hi everybody,
have been unwell, so i have not been able to do a lot of posting. But now all back to normal.
Have completed the change of the oil cooler and engine now all back together.
Unfortunatly now sounding rough, with no power at low end.ie "you now have to put your foot down to pull away"
Revs are fine 600ish, but there does appear to be a cough when you rev and then the revs drop back down, it
coughs just as the revs get back down to normal.
The engine is sounding a bit  like an old diesel, and does appear to be vibrating quite a bit, which it wasn't doing before.
The really strange thing is there is no engine management light on,so i have no point of origin to look for.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatfully received a this point.
Unfortunatly canot drive the car to far, as i'm working towards mot as well.Still requiring :-
o/s/r brake pipe
n/s/r brake pipe
n/s/r coil spring
hand brake looking at no adjustment on it. ie "on or off only"
So any advice would help greatly.
I'm still very much a novice
Many thanks

Smiley

Air leaks followed by ignition would be my starting point......

I agree, possibly where you installet the trumpets and ecotec on the top, Im told that the black O rings get changed as a matter of coarse, the orange gaskets should last forever. The first 10 minutes it will sound rough as the oil that has drained of the surfaces and cams will need to be replenished. others will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the cam followers need to be replenished to stop HLA (clatter)

Air leaks as in pipes not connected firmly enough. Is there any way of telling?
The four pipes which lead into the manifold, ie two large two small, the two small ones do they have a correct
way round? I believe they are air breather pipes.
I think the ht leads are the right way round, but is there any way of telling, as there are no markings on them.
Cheers
Mark

I'd go for plenum not sealing properly on the intake manifold.  Did you renew all 6 black o-rings, and are you sure they are all seated and sealed correctly?

Problem now sorted thanks to Marks DTM Calib ( What this guy doesn't know...Wow ).
Turned out to be connector not connecting at all  on one injector, so hence only firing on five cylinders.
Many thanks and best wishes
