Well, just given the miggie it's first long trip since I've had it. Went to St Agnes in Cornwall on Friday and came back yesterday and the old girl behaved impeccably - didn't miss a beat on the whole 650 mile round trip Smiley (apart from a slight vibration at motorway speed due to one of the rear wheels being slightly out of balance)

What impressed me most was how well it eats hills like they don't exist. Even the largest gradients required just a slight increase on the loud pedal and it didn't drop an mph, and this was with three 6 foot+ adults and luggage on board. On the motorway it returned just over 30mpg although the overall average for the whole trip was 28.5 and believe me, I wasn't hanging about  Cool

Gave it some serious welly on the A30 as there wasn't much traffic about and my bottle ran out well before she achieved her top speed however, I'd best not incriminate myself on here by saying exactly what that was Wink...oh yes, of course it must have been 70!! Wink Wink

Its a trip I do at least twice a year, and the MV6 eats up the miles like its just a trip to the shops.

Not many speed cameras down the A30. Not many fuel stations either....

I was really surprised by the lack of camara's as when I last went down there a few years ago there were quite a lot, but to my reckoning there is only 1 westbound and 2 eastbound. If I missed one I may be looking at a spell in her Majesty's holiday camp Undecided

I had a lucky break going down the M5 to Cornwall in May.  I was 'slightly' breaking the limit, saw old bill come down a slip road, so slowed and pulled in. Car who I had been following didn't see plod for ages, and got pulled...

A trip I do regularly, except I divert via A39 when A30 is busy.

There is a Gatso on a downhill going west and another east bound in a good location and well signposted.

Not sure where the others are, haven't been over Goss Moor for a while!

Fuel well there is the BP garage at Okehampton but it is pricey (48.9)

My favourite frequent Motorway rides:

M2 between the J1 (A2) and J4, twice a month - no cameras, and going east its a long uphill drive on a 5-lane motorway - hooray!

M11 between the A406 to Stansted, once a month (Beerchange) - no cameras

M3 between the M25 and M3/J3, once a month - no cameras.

Might not be too many Gatsos on the A30,  but there are alot of nice little slipways where local plod like to sit with speed guns!

I'm always dragging a van so don't need to watch too closely - I reckon I can get away with road limit rather than tow limit

Maybe it's simply because it's a cracking place - some great roads off the beaten track, great pubs, great scenery and the "wildlife" ain't bad either Wink Wink

Must be popular with miggie owners as I saw loads of them down there. Cool

My favourite stretch of road is the M74 north of Lockerbie. Never any cameras and all brand new road surface.

Tagged an M5 northbound last night and it was a pleasure. Chewed up the miles and spat them out as inches!!

My least favourite however, (as I found out on Friday to my disgust!!), is the A523 Macclesfield to Derby road through Leek. An absolute ar*ehole of a road!!! 50MPH limit with lots of opportunities to overtake. Sounds like bliss! Except there's speed cameras every 100 yards!!  Angry

Ended up stuck behind a convoyette of artics doing between 40 - 45 with absolutely no chance of getting past them, (at least while standing a chance of retaining my licence!!), for about 50 miles!!!  Angry

Missed you by just over a week! I went down on 18/08/06 - 21/08/06 for a long weekend. One of my old friends lives in St Agnes and we went down for his birthday p**s up. What a weekend it was too!!
Had a large marquee with free beer (real ale) all Saturday and Sunday with live bands and a disco.

Think I need to grow a new liver Undecided

Well there are some lovely pubs in Cornwall - I like the waterside ones, we always stay in the Falmouth area and two I can think of are the Ferry Boat Inn and Pandora Inn
