The North coast of Cornwall is a great place to watch the sunset into the sea....

My parents are Cornish, both grans Cornish, mums dad was from Brixham and dads dad somewhere in the midlands beginning with L.

I really like the Helford/Fal/Truro/Redruth/Polperro/Lizard surrounded area.

One of my late uncles sister-in-law was on Gary Rhodes cooking him a pasty, and my dad grew up a few houses away from what is now Annes pasty shop.

I have relations in Mawnan, Helston & Mullion areas, but haven't seen some of them for years.

I first experienced what a big end failure was in Cornwall, in an A40 Somerset.

Gentle tapping, growing into a knocking within 100 yards, developing into a big bang within another 100 yards.

Complete engine rebuild cost me £25 by a little garage just outside Redruth.

Ah! Those were the day's......

Ah yes, The Watering Hole in Perrenporth - I'm well aqquainted with that place. I was there a couple of years ago and passed away many a few pleasant hours in there Smiley They have some good bands playing there some evenings too. Only problem is that if you attempt to drive across the sand to get there (which is the only way to get to it) there's a good chance of getting stuck just as some hapless sole did when I was there once. Had to be towed out by Landrover.
Great place though Smiley

Gate crashed my brothers holiday at perrenporth last year (he was staying at the big mobile home place). Weather was great, and that part of world is lovely if weather holds (bit grim if its cold and wet)

Thats the one

Interesting story 1

In Falmouth there used to be a good little Pasty shop called Rollins, then one year it had gone, the owner had moved up country to open a chain of Pasty shops in the midlands.

First shop (Falmouth Pasty Co) was in Worcester!!!!

So I use them quite a bit!

The best fast food there is!

Some nice pictures here

http://www.imber.org.uk/hp.htm

Not complete I have hp.htm, pn.htm and mp.htm

I still need to do the following

1) Put Port Navas after Helford Passage

2) Do Durgan

3) Visit Polgwidden (sp) Cove and insert between Durgan and HP

4) Seriously tidy MP page - which is unlinked at present

5) Replace the panorama with new ones shot with locked exposure, white balance and focus (video camera stills mode)

I haven't done too much north coast - just day trips apart from a week at St Ives 12 years ago.

However next year May - I will have a river trip in my new pump up boat

July August - will leave early to stay near Bude for 3 days

Looks quite nice down there.   Smiley

My old man took my sister down there and the B&B, he said was one of the best he had stayed in.
