Went to BCA in Manchester today,looking for a late model MV6 auto. No luck, only a few high mileage 2.2 manuals there, all at very cheap money . The thing is, I was sorely tempted to desert the Griffin and buy a bargain from another maker.

The 'Prestige' used car dealers are having a beano at these prices.Still,if you can't beat them,join them .Buy your next car at the auctions and save money big time. Oh yeah ,and it really p*sses the dealers off when you outbid them on a prime motor.

Taking a chance is certainly what you do on an old car,but a executive car thats less than 3yrs old has usually been maintained regardless of cost by a company and may,if you're lucky,still have some makers warranty left(like my son's Merc). Plus, at BCA most late models have an engineer's report and are sold with a 'no major faults' declaration,giving you an opportunity to return it if it's a dog.
Buying at auction can give you 12mths depreciation-free motoring by selling it in AutoTrader for what you paid after you've had your fun in it.
