hello from Mole
06. Jan 2007 at 14:25

hi all. just wanted to say i never gave the omega a second thought before i got one. now i can't see passed it. brief history; did a charity rally(staples2naples) last year in a tartan sierra. smashed it to bits then sold it to an italian chav for 30euros. not having booked a flight home i managed to blag one of the other rally cars to get myself and copilot back. enter Big Rod and the batomegabile(thanks very much again btw).
being a standard 2.0 16v, my first impressions were that it was a big, heavy, slow and wallowy bucket although it drew attention to its self by being mat black with batwings, rocket launchers and an afterburner.
since getting back(via the nurburgring) i've lowered and uprated the suspension, fitted a mv6 lsd and put a k&n filter on it. i've been taking it to track days and fettling it in between times but its still painfully slow.
recently i've taken on more of Big Rod's cast offs in the form of an extremely rusty but running carlton 3.0 24v gsi and am considering a transplant. he reckons it's been done before and the only hasstle was the wiper motor. any input would be welcome
cheers Mole.

no.
sense of humour failure at knockhill and the nurburgring(expected) meant removal of batwings and rocket launchers. however the afterburner was allowed.
i got bored of replacing the parts and have now de"bat"ed the car. i made the mistake of power washing it the other day and most of the paint fell off.

hi and welcome !

a 3.0 straight six should be able to be fitted, as someone from here (omegatoy) has shoe-horned the lump from a lotus carlton into a GLS-spec miggy - see for yourself here Smiley

although I've read on here that the straight six makes the miggy a bit more nose-heavy than usual ... and yes, you probably will need to go to a single wiper ...
