The internal batteries will be goosed.....these can be repalced with care.

The interesting thing is that Vaux stated that disconnecting it would cause the secondary sounder to still go off yet teh fault codes say the cause is the soudner so, if the sounder is disconnected.....chickena dn egg argument here!

Reality is that the short term answer is to disconnect the sounder under the drivers scuttle cover.

Pre my expensive  visit to vxhall The alarm and indicators would go off once and I used remote to unlock and lock doors. Then all would be ok.

BUT NOW after the visit - for the last hour alarm etc goes off all the time until I unlock and lock doors then 2 mins again its off again.
Have resorted to locking all doors manually and closing rear door last - seems to work but no alarm YIPPEE

So is the alarm they are talking about next to the power sounder under the scuttle or is it part of the powersounder module? Anyone got a photo of the alarm and or sounder so I know what I'm loking for

My first thoughts are check the bonnet plunger is making contact properly abit of wind can cause it to go off.

The powersounder is pretty much the alarm which is under the scuttle on the driver side, should look like a square box.

When you say you just removed the sounder did you follow a specific  sequence eg keep ignition on all the time etc.  Reading thro Astra archives and one of the problems appears to be making sure the lack of a sounder is accepted by the car so as not to need Tech 2.
Dont fancy going for another tech2 at £80+

Been hacking me off for a while with its, peep, peep, peep when turning the ignition off and people looking at me 

Its only the backup alarm module, so if anyone trys to pinch the car the main horn will still go off lights flash and stuff, so i thought what the hell and rip it out.

No specific method, I removed the passenger side scuttle drain (check out the Maintenance section for a how2) its a rectangle black square box with a connection going in the front. I started to wiggle the connector out and it started going off, continue to wiggle and it died as i took it off, good sound too like something draining power? peep peeeeeooooob if you get my meaning.

Unscrewed the nut holding it in and though the damn thing away....

Started the car to make sure it was ok, everything was

Thats what i thought when they gave me the bill. Out of interest tried another Vxall garage for a tech2 price  same again £80+  inclusive of VAT. "The boy" could make a very good living if he was closer.

Also, for fun, got quote for supply and fit the alarm siren £153 all in. That makes it a minimum of £230 ish for the whole job/Gee 4 of those and I could buy a whole car

Will keep using the door locking system until I can afford to save some more pennies.

If I dont rip itout or change it will there come a time when this THING will trigger my alarm as I go down the road
