Cruise control / tech2 thingy
09. Jan 2007 at 16:18

Hello everybody!

Now that @ve cheered myself up by solving (nearly) all the oil leaks I'd like to spoil myself a little and invest in a cruise control unit. there's one on ebay that looks suitable:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-V6-2-5-3-0-CRUISE-CONTROL-UNIT-STALK_W0QQit...

I've read the "how-to" elsewhere, and the job looks reasonably straight forwards, but I'm a little confused as to whether I'll need to get that Tech2 thing sorted to activate the cruise. I've got a 1997 Omega 2.5 Reflection, which according to the "how-to" shouldn't need it sorting due to being pre-facelift. Is this correct? If I need to get the Tech2 thing sorted is there anyone local to me (Rhondda, South Wales) who could assist?? Cheers fellas

With the pre-facelifts its just plug and go.

Tech2 is only needed for facelift Omegas as the throttle is fly-by-wire and controlled by the ECU  Thumbs Up!

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

That was a really pleasing answer! Thanks for that!  Cheesy

I'll just have to pray that nobody here goes and grabs that kit off ebay in the last few seconds now, as usually happens to me!

I think that eBay kit has everything.. not to sure.

Someone will post before it ends to comment on that, if you miss out on that auction. Search for 'Omega Breaking' there is often a few on there being broken up, just e-mail the seller  Thumbs Up!

2.5 does not need Tech2 etc Smiley

If you have an aux heater, you need a different mounting bracket for the pump...
