Found Bulb Missing Grrrr
12. Jan 2007 at 16:24

Decided to change my Instrument Panel bulb today as the warning light sign of an engine has never been lit so i thought better get a new one for it, took the panel off to check the bulb and it did not have one, someone has removed it in the Past Thats very sneeky.

Anyway Checked the bulb for the sign with the little spanner popping out of the car and that bulb is fine but the light does not come on when i first start the car.

So i now have an orange engine sign on my Dash now all the time I have paper Clip tested it and it came up with

16  Knock sensor signal circuit  (Ill take it was because the engine was not running)
90  ?
0130 Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor ( would this have anything to do with my car running on LPG)

The engine was not running with the test as it did not seem to work with the engine running.

I think I read these codes right but ill double check tommorow in the light

Can anyone shed some light on what the codes mean please

Craig

1690 MIL/Engine fail (malfunction indicator lamp) is this because i have not reconnected the MID or is it maybe the warning symbol of the car and spanner never lights ?

The 1690 will be cause someone nicked the bulb!

And sounds like you have a lambda sensor fault......tho im sure someone else will be able to advise more on this

Something not right - you should get a 12 to signify start of sequence...

i dont know then but i get after turning the key   1 flash 6 flashes 9 flashes 10 flashes pause 10 flashes 1 flash 3 flashes 10 flashes
pause all the way through no 3 times repeating

also i thought i should only be getting 2 sets of flashes for the Siemens Simtec 56.0/56.1 ecu not 4 set like for the Siemens Simtec 56.5 ECU

i know mine is a W reg so it would of been late 2000 if that makes any difference

ill try and do the reset thingy of turning the key on 30 odd times you dont need the engine to start do you ?

Not if you disconnect it within 15 seconds of turning the ignition off

Undo the terminal on the battery, but do not remove.

Switch ignition on then off, you have 15 secs then to remove the terminal before the alarm goes off.

Thanks ill not bother diconnecting the battery

Found out that i have Siemens Simtec 56.5 ECU in my car i think so it does not have a code 12 only 4 digit codes thats why i am not getting code 12 at all.

I just want to double doule check this the engine management light  is the orange one that looks like an engine and in the hand book is called Exhaust Emission this is the one that should be flashing the codes up YES ?

Nobody spotted the obvious here then......

Concentrate on code 0110 - Intake Air Temp Sensor, this will cause a richer mixture and associated lambda control faults......
