For discounts either contact a member who has a Trade Clubcard (TC) for parts at trade prices, also might be worth joining autobahnstomers, a club for 6 pot Vauxhalls. It costs £20 to join, and your membership card gets you trade prices at Vauxhall 

Just seen the Omega 6 months flashing up at the top of the screen.... and to have 675 members within 6 months is a milestone.
I have just been reading about how quick the Omega's are, some guys trying to burn off from Jags and stuff made me laugh thinking that the Boy Racer is still in you.....
The MV6 i have seen and am tempted to buy is an auto.....
But as i drive a Cavalier Diesel to work everyday i dont get chance to race things, only the odd pushbike
But would the Demon Boy Racer again pop up once sitting behind the wheel of a MV6 Auto?????
Is the auto alot slower than the manual??

Yes.

Fastest Omegas are facelift MV6 3.2 manual, but these were not available to the general public so any such cars are rare and likely to be ex-plod.
(Vauxhall had a choice of manual or automatic transmission only on the MV6 2.6, but the MV6 3.2 came as standard with automatic transmission)

Personally I enjoy much more driving a manual car, but I have the auto box and it does have its merit when driving in slow moving traffic etc.

I suppose the reason most omegas are automatic is in part because they were originally sold to be used as middle-management company cars, and in part because to be honest the Omega manual gearbox is OK, but not brilliant or sporty...

The Omega manual box isn't overly sporty as the gearing is too high (it could really do with a 6 speed box IMO to make it easier to keep the revs high when driving hard) but it's still far better than the slushbox in that respect. Having an "S" button is little more than a gimmick really, it doesn't change the fact that the gearing is far too high (way higher than the manual) and that it can't read the road conditions nor prevent the rubber band effect of a torque converter that I absolutely loathe when driving on the limit through twisty roads.

It's horses for courses really, if you enjoy throwing the car around twisty B roads, and the Omega is pretty good for this considering its size especially the MV6, and want to get the best performance and maybe even a little cheeky power oversteer then there's simply no substitute for a manual box (or something like an SMG which obviously isn't available in the Omega!) but if you'd rather take the lazy option and will spend a lot of time in traffic maybe the slushy makes sense for you. Personally I'd have a manual even if I had to do rush hour traffic every day cos the reward on the open road more than makes up for it, but I realise not everyone is as obsessive about driving fun and involvement as I am

Could be...  ...but reality is you guys (the members) are the bosses of this site, and are what make the fantastic place it is. We (me, Marks DTM Calib, TheBoy and Auto Addict ) just keep things running as they should.

Good to hear you're enjoying the forum Loo-Knee. As mentioned in some of the other replies, we do have the occassional meets in different area's of the country. We had quite a large weekend meet at Santa Pod last October which was a great success and great fun - BBQ's, lots of beer followed by some sore heads on Sunday morning!! Also a good opportunity to get heads under bonnets and problems resolved. It's a good venue as it's fairly central in the country for many of the members on here and the camping facilities are reasonable, and of course there's the drag strip!! I'm sure there will be another one this year when the weather's a bit warmer - keep an eye on the Meets section.  

BTW, how did you come up with a name like Loo-Knee? You're not a Chinese lunatic are you??
