G'day,

I'm new and I'm not an Omega owner yet... I've driven a few and really liked them so I'm in the process of trying to buy one at the moment.

More accurately, I'm in the process of trying to afford one...

Cheers.

That sounds like my missus... but you're right, I'm in the process of selling all except the pug which I'm keeping for her to use, and hoping to put the funds into getting a decent Omega.

Rear wheel drive is the only way forward.  Wink

Welcome mate. Once you have sold the 2 BMWs you should easily have enough for a decent Omega (considering how overvalued they seem to be).

Also owning an Omega instead will mean you are no longer despised by 90% of the driving public. Wink

Won't fit on my profile under the cars I drive though...  Wink

Join the 4 pot brigade.

Now, have a read through the maintenance guides.

First job, has the cam belt, tensioners and water pump been changed according to the schedule.

If so, have you got documented proof that it has been done? Were genuine Vx parts used?

If not, I would advise you get it done ASAP.

Next job, read up about cleaning the breathers and throttle body on a 2.2, it will improve the running of the car, and help save having to do the cam belt gaskets at a future date.

Enjoy Thumbs Up!

Hi, am a new member as well, and I think that I have the best Omega, the MV6 with the carbon fibre dash and probably the best alloys you'll find on a Vauxhall. Naturally I am deeply biased so anyone who thinks differently is more than welcome to disagree. You'll have a job finding one of course, but it will be worth the wait. The problems you might encounter such as I did are groans from the back end (suspension bushes), a saggy back end (rear coils gone), water leaks (3 way valve gone), oil leak at the side (cam cover gasket gone), and a message which I think is "Dip/Beam Fld/Vision" on the computer display. This was the link gone from suspension to automatic headlamp levelling sensor. Still got that to fix sadly. Once you've done all that I have found that my local Vauxhall garage now remembers my name, smiles when I come in, now gives me a discount on the work done and takes me home asking how am I doing today!!!

I must be as mad as a box of frogs.

Billy the Bass.

Yep - all above correct.

Will do, thanks - my better half isn't going to see a lot of me in the near future me thinks.

I know there are various topics on this, but non seem to give a definitive answer; I have a Philips CCR 2006 stereo in "SAFE" mode, but no code.

Where can I get a code ASAP? Happy to pay, but Vauxhall dealers require me to wait a week... I need radio ASAP due to all the driving I do!

Welcome mate.

Have you tried asking the previous owner?  Or looked in all the cubbie holes around the car?  Its a credit card sized pice of plastic.

Yes mate; it looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and go and pay the exorbitant price at a dealer... and wait for the result!

My missus says I should just get over my pride, as I have set myself a challenge to NEVER go to a main dealer with a car (and have succeeded so far). I suppose she's right.  Roll Eyes

Vx prices for parts are often quite reasonable esp. with access to the mythical trade club card.

I imagine that they will want c. 20 quid for the card.  But note you need a separate code for the cd changer, so make sure you are getting both.

Cheers
