Hello All - what a friendly site!
23. Aug 2007 at 00:25

Just bought an Omega (2.2 CD auto, 2002) last week.

Have owned BMWs for some years (ran my last one to 210k miles), and there are a few differences I've noticed already - let's be honest, the price I paid for it is a key difference.  But essentially it's a roomy, comfortable, rear wheel drive car that I feel I could drive all day.

I've had a quick look around this site and really like the 'feel' of it.

Whether it will help me solve all the minor niggles that my car has got remains to be seen, but I've got a bit of a steer on the airbag light that I'll pursue at the weekend.
Failing that I have called into my local Vauxhall dealer who says he'll do half an hour diagnosis for £45 and see if they can sort it within that time.

So I look forward to being a member here.

PS was it my imagination, or did the Vauxhall service manager turn his nose up when I told him it was an Omega that I had just bought??? Presumably because he knew I hadn't bought it from a Vauxhall dealer, let alone his dealership, as they don't sell S/H ones any more.... or was it pity - I really wasn't sure!

Howdoo, and welcome to the site.

Loads of good honest peeps on here that can and will assist in making Omega ownership a lot less painfull than paying workshop prices!!

When you get a chance, update your profile to show where you are and what age/engine/spec of Omega.  Reason being we have 2 Tech2 devices (the ones the VX dealers are going to charge you £45 per half hour for) at our disposal and the prices are 'competative' compared to VX.

Take time to peruse the howtoo and other sections. Feel free to chime in on any thread.  We are friendly and, unlike other sites, don't bite unless provoked!   Grin

Thumbs Up!

Hiya  Thumbs Up!

Good choice of motor  Smiley The dealer will have just been jealous and the parts guy sad that you won't be in every weekend  Cheesy Seriously, even with some of the woes listed on this site, the Omega is a reliable car.

The airbag light, you can buy 'pretend' tech2 software/control modules off eBay quite cheap which reset airbag lights and read fault codes etc. As Hotel said, I wouldn't go forking out expensive software diagnosis at a main dealer. Seek out a good independent or wait till the car goes in for dealer service, they'll read faults on the computer then.

Before that though, if airbag light is on, have a crawl around the car where the airbag connections are located. Under/beside the seats is a favourite for loose airbag connections, when people shove their feet under the front seats or when hoovering  Huh. Check there's no connections dislodged.

Get them questions fired up!
