Buy the cambelt DVD (£3) and see if its something you can do Wink

Temp should be just under midpoint of gauge when cruising, going just over in traffic.

Have a search through the site, there are loads of threads regarding this particular task, and indeed a dvd of the process itself if you fancy having a go yourself. Vx will always charge a fortune for this, partly due to the 'fear factor' of the job itself and because of the stripping down thats required. A local, though competent, garage may be more reasonable providing they are confident with the job, but Vx may offer a better after sales type service if you think the job hasn't been done properly, etc. Get a few quotes from various places and at least you'll have an idea. Post them back up here and someone with a bit more knowledge than me can give you a proper indication. Bottom line is though that it will need done at some point so check your mileage and do some sums!
Good luck.

I thought I wouldn't be able to do it either but bought the Omega Haynes manual (other wise know as the book of lies) and realised that it wasn't actually that difficult when approached sensibly and slowly.  Thumbs Up!

cheers for the info am going to be honest ive just bought the omega which is the 2000 3.0 mv6 estate in silver with no history and myself been the 7th owner.uff i know what your thinking scary or what.
am very picky with my cars been hunting for a mv6 for months until this came up.
i bought it from a bobby no its not been used as a patrol car he gave me good word that the previous owner lost the history for the car of which he gave me is details so i could contact him,of which i did.
he sounded a geniue guy and everthing he said seem to be right i also phoned the garage from were hed bought it and he backed up just about everthing the owner said (hope it all makes sence).
before buying the car i hpi'ed it and came back ok i double checked the car over and seems the dogs danglers.
am going to post some pics in the next few days see what you guys think Thumbs Up!
