Hi and welcome to the forum,

sounds like you may have a fuel filter problem - very easy and cheap to replace.

As for the smell of burning oil, could be a couple of things, do you have an Automatic- as it may be the gearbox vent hose touching the hot engine - is usually tied to the pipes at the rear of the plenum - needs to be left open.

The breathers may need cleaning out and forcing a leak at the cam covers - when were they last done - if never check the maintenance guides on how to do it.

Others will be along later with more pointers for you.

cheers

Yep as said, clean out the breathers and also clean the IACV. Oil smell is more than likely to be the cam cover gaskets so these will need replacing. All these items are covered in the maintainance guides Wink

for 1 and 2, could it just be that the idle control valve, throttle body and breather pipes need a good clean?

I would try what we have said first as that is the first port of call......You must clean out the IACV first before you start spending lots of money on what one garage has said.

Clean the Idle Air Control valve - very common problem.

Take some of the spark plug leads off the spark plugs and see if there is oil on them. If you have then the hot oil smell is due to leaking cam cover gaskets (also very common).

like everyone else says ,clean idle control valve and breathers, will almost surtenly be cam cover gaskets leaking oil ,both items are common thing on omega v6's and on the 4 cyclinders, but please try and use genuine vx gaskets as after market ones ar crap, once done though you should not have any probs with gasket Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!
