Sep 2007 at 05:54 Oil Cooler/Heat Exchanger leaking coolant. I fear for your bearings everywhere in the engine not to mention the cylinder walls. Change the oil immediately and get a new cooler. Due to the nature of the oil cooler (oil under high pressure being pumped around the exchanger in the water jacket)... if it fails, it will predominantely leak oil into the cooling system, and not coolant into the oil...

Definately not oil cooler.....

Interestingly, slightly off topic. I was speeking to man father the other day and he told me one of his traders phoned up asking about a 2.5 V6 Omega which had oil in the header tank.....they had already changed the headgaskets and it didn't fix it......its worrying isnt it!

Any way......age of car and engine size please, mileage and service history to (coolant changes in particular).

Any sign of mayo on the dipstick?

Short journeys?

Last oil change and what was used?

It got a thrashing as Ronnie mentinoed above and seems better..

If you could measure the oil temperature you'd fine that even after the coolant says 90C the oil will still take perhaps 10 or 20 mins to reach proper temperature. You then need it hot enough long enough to clear the mositure in that long filler spout.
