I've been reading up in the Guides about Fitting Cruise (Facelift Only). Came across indicator stalk on the bay... buy it now £20.99 + £1.89 pp.

Although this statement in the sellers description wont deter wether I buy one or not, just wondered thats all ???

I think the seller is talking rubbish. On drive by wire cars there is an explicit setting in the engine ECU to enable cruise. This will not be reset by removing the battery! It requires a Tech 2 to program it. Also, certainly on my DBW (auto) car there was nothing to do in the pedal switch department. It was a case of add the stalk, Tech2 to enable it and I had cruise.

On a non-dbw engine you need to add the actuator which moves the throttle, the brake and, if manual, clutch switches and the stalk but there is no setting in the ECU to change since the cruise system is stand-alone.

Edited to say: Note that only the 2.2,2.6 and 3.2 Facelift cars are DBW. The 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 are the not.

That's a bit pricey for a second hand stalk, make them an offer or buy a new one. Is your car manual or auto? Auto shouldn't require any addtional parts, manual may require clutch & brake switch (being a GLS) but may also be present already. If required they are around £12 ea. i think? You can check by getting your head up under the dashboard above the pedals.

Vauxhall agents are funny people, some won't bat an eyelid but some get shirty if you tell them you've fitted it yourself and won't enable it. It requires a 'tech 2' computer system to enable. If they charge you full tech 2 analysis rate you're looking at £30 - 50. There are members/mods on here who have the equipment to do it and charge excellent rates. Otherwise, a vauxhall specialist.

Correct.

It does not matter if its facelift or not its the engine....

2.0/2.5/3.0 - Needs all the trimmings, cables, control unit, acutator, switchs and so on but no tech2 needed.

2.2/2.6/3.2 - Just needs the stalk, and tech2. Some manuals need a clutch switch.

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

Bonus is, once fitted, it will work straight 'out of the box', so no computers/mechanics required If you're feeling brave, go take it all off a vehicle at the breakers yard, otherwise, alot of people sell the appropriate equipment on 'the bay'.
