Elite Pete Omega King Offline My spider senses are tingling Posts: 17813 Northwich/Chester Gender: Drives: Facelift Wheezel,Breaking 2001 MV6	Bloody alarm 28. Sep 2007 at 18:14 Ive just replaced the gearbox in a 2002 Elite and have had the battery disconected for about a week, anyway tried to reconnect the battery tonight and the alarm sounder keeps going off. I have tried locking and unlocking the car but the sounder is still going off Any ideas? TIA

Sep 2007 at 20:44 Its suppose to go off when sumone nicks your battery......not the other way round Soz dont really know..poss the battery in it has gone flat ....but it is possible to unplug it for a temp fix, i believe

Maybe removal of power for a while was the last straw for the internal batteries? Kevin

OK... when you removed the battery from the car did you do it 15 seconds AFTER removing the key from the ignition? This would have turned off the powersounder for "maintenance".

If not..... I think it's a tech 2 job or at least remove the powersounder (found under the windscreen wiper scuttle bay). If the batteries are duff on the powersounder then this can also make this happen.... replacement batteries are a nightmare to find but if you do a search on the forum there is a supplier that does them... if not it's a Vauxhall part for the full power sounder... last price was around the 50-60 quid mark.... then apparently(not sure on this) it needs Tech 2 to marry it to the car as mentioned above.

Try more in the region of £150...

AutoVaux will import one for the sum of £80...

Sep 2007 at 02:54 Vauxhall part for the full power sounder... last price was around the 50-60 quid mark. Apologies... forgot to add 1's to the front of that!! Sure I seen a way to mod the sounder i.e. change the battery, involves cutting the box open and putting in a custom battery but could save you a good few quid!!

Sep 2007 at 11:01 The batteries that were in my power sounder are readily available. I think earlier ones are different but looking at the circuit board there is provision to fit either. If you want to open it up and send me the PCB I'll have a look and see if it can be resurrected. Kevin
