V6 2.5 Slow Problem
02. Oct 2007 at 14:10

Hi, Just bought a 2.5 V6 CDX Auto, Have been driving it for a few days now, but it seems quite slow, thought it was just because it was more comfy and quiet than my 2.0 Manual i have. So i jumped back in the 2.0 and had a go, the 2.0 is deffinatley more responsive and faster, pull away and top end.

What could this be????

PS. Its just the same with the sports buttton on, the button does give a higher rev range so is working.

Thanks.  Thumbs Up!

Check the multiram system is working (vacuum pipes all wired up OK, both rams changing over when engine blipped hard).

It's not unknown for muppets to time the cams up wrongly when changing the cam belt and this will kill the performance. If the cam belt is anywhere near due a change you may as well change it while you're checking the timing.

Blocked exhausts have been known.

All the ususal service items - air filter / fuel filter clean?

Is the engine running smoothly or does it appear to be misfiring?

Cheers,

Kevin

Where did you buy it from? , i went look at a blue one with my brother , that was 2.5 , auto and was vry slow.

I checked the engine and neither rams were working. Also it felt really sluggish anyway.  The car i wet to look at was in Audley, Stoke on Trent

There are 2 , one at the back of the engine (blip the throttle and you will see the brown centre rod move) , and one at the front for when it gets above 4k rpm

Look at the back of the plenum and it is there towards the right a little bit.

Back one is for low torque , front one is for high power.

Could be a few things. Firstly check if all the vacs are connected. Then check the 2 are going into the vactank (stand at the engine and look down between the bagpipes and the radiator towards the left. A black box) Then check the solenoids are plugged in either of them.

Right had a look.... Here are some pictures to maybe help with diagnosis...

This is the box with the 2 vac pipes connected and you can see in the pic where the first vac pipe attaches to.
...

This is where the second pipe goes, the second pipe from the fron is the one coming in from the right, and joining the white plastic T piece. Ok so far????
