Hi everyone.

My name is Darren and I have tonight purchased my first Omega. Thumbs Up!

1998/S Reg 2.5 V6 CD

I currently also own a Rover 820i which I have up for sale. The Omega is to replace it.

After test driving the car, I love it. It feels so much more solid and well built compared to the Rover. The cost of this car was £750 which I think is great. It was advertised on Ebay but did a deal behind the scenes with the owner and he took it off Ebay.

As a newbie with this type of car, I would be grateful for any advice about this particular model and engine. I will now have a browse around the forum to get the feel of how things work on here.

Thanks everyone Wink

Howdoo Darren and welcome to the forum.  Loads of good info here, freely given.

Check out the guides, loads of good stuff there....   Thumbs Up!

First and most importantly, whats the service history like, in particular cambelt and tensioner change?  4 years or 40k miles the absolute max.  If you do not have a receipt for work done, then would suggest a change asap as, if it fails (and it will) then its a shed load more cash and time torepair than simply doing the belt kit.....   Thumbs Up!

Take time to browse around, as said....   Wink

Hello Moderator.

Thanks for your reply.

The service history of the car is FULL! Cambelt was done about 5000mls ago. Loads of receipts. Air Con re-gassed in the summer. Two new wishbones for last MOT. Full 12mths Mot and 6 mths Tax. I do not collect the car until tomorrow afternoon but I will take some pics and post them on the site.

Cheers. Wink

Hi darren welcome to the forum mate, when you say the timing belt was done was it the full kit with the rollers as well, as it is these that fail before the belts. good luck and if you have any probs  just ask in the gen help sec and we will help where we can.

GARY. Thumbs Up!

Cracking choice of car if i say so myself!!! As Broocie & Gary already said ensure the full kit was done not just the belt, it really is that important. Otherwise welcome aboard & happy Migging!
Look forward to the pics. Thumbs Up!
