Hello!
07. Nov 2007 at 00:34

Evening all, been prowling on the site for a couple of weeks or so and thought I should de-lurk Cheesy

I am the proud owner of an X-plate Omega 3.0 MV6, complete with leather and driver involvement pack - must say that so far I am impressed, the comfort is incredible, the sound is beautiful, and (once moving) quite brisk indeed!

I am 24, from around the Cardiff region and interested in all things car-related, women and beer.
I work for a shipping company in Cardiff Bay so if anyone spots me on the Cardiff Bay link-road, don't do what everyone else does and dive out of my way!

Other cars I presently own are:-
MG Maestro Turbo with a tweak here and there (presently off the road awaiting re-build and de-locking; in the last 3 months it was on the road it was broken into twice - both times in Bath of all places - which caused some pretty horrid damage to both front doors). This is my second MGMT, the first one was pinched and written off while I was working at the University Hospital of Wales. Little bleeders....

Rover 620ti - sensible mods, has been my daily transport (and fun thing) for about 2 years now. I enjoyed it hugely and didn't have many problems to report at all. No HG prolems, always started, pretty "nippy" and with Vitesse Sport Wheels, lowering and decent brakes, really could do a lot more than first appeared in all departments. Spent quite a bit, which detracted from the above project.

This is the first non-turbocharged car that I have owned in a few years, I went for a change as I fancied something a touch more modern-feeling (even if it is similar to my old Carlton GSi) and comfort was high on the list - I thought I could have a bit of everything in the MV6, and I have!

The MV6 is presently running at 27-28MPG average, which isn't too bad at all for the traffic and link-road action!
One very happy motorist so far Smiley

I think that's about it for now - will get some pics up in the morning

Cheers for reading!
Alex  Thumbs Up!

Hi Alex and welcome to the forum Thumbs Up!

I have always wanted a Maestro Turbo and considering they only made 505 I bet there are only a few left. The closest I ever got was a Metro Turbo but thats not in the same league. I also owned a Mini Clubman with a Metro Turbo engine but the gearbox could'nt stand the constant thrashing and let go Cry

Thanks for the welcome guys Smiley

Indeed the Maestro is reasonably rare these days, particularly with the climate in S. Wales (dust and rain!) - fine cars though, plenty of lag but a big bout of punch to follow it, and the classic idea of Carb Turbo - easy to fiddle with. I may still put the TorSen PG1 LSD into the Maestro when I have a spare month or two. but the way things have gone recently I can't see it being for a while!

Some little bitesize snaps :-
...
...

Have pics of the others somewhere too, Maestro ones are old (taken with a wind-up mobile phone) and the Rover ones are just too damned big.

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome - I hope all the questions that I ask will be upgrade/maintainence-based and nothing to do with repairs Smiley

Cheers again
Alex

Hi Alex. That's a very discerning stable of cars you have. I still haven't given up on owning a 600ti one day.

Welcome to the site.

Personally never got on with Maestros - about as good in corners as my old GTE, but without the predictability Grin

What a great welome Smiley Thank you.

The Maestro is more or less as low as I can possibly take, which means great fun and pretty decent grip, but terrible over rough ground and a sumpsmasher over bigger speedbumps. Take the rough with the smooth! I've done two sumps on it in 20k miles by being forgetful really - I kept thinking there was a lot more clearance than there was. My old one had some roll but was pretty comfy - the limit of the grip did seem to be a very blurry line though - scary on occasions!

Still, the MV6 is the way forward - Loving it more each day Grin

Looking forward to getting stuck into the FAQ's and all the things the forum has to offer Smiley

Cheers
Alex
