Hello from yet another newbie
07. Nov 2007 at 18:34

I've lurked here for a while gathering on overseas view on my version of the Omega. I have a 2000 Cadillac Catera 3.0 L that has had some minor glitches here and there. So far, the forum has been helpful to me in figuring out some of these glitches. Since the Omega and the Catera are essentially the same I decided to join the forum. Although I live across the pond and am a native there, I used to reside in East Sheen in my youth.
Should anyone have any questions regarding American Law Enforcement or traffic laws, please feel free to ask. I have been a Police Officer for 30 years now (between military- 3 years and civilian- 27 years) and played in traffic for the majority of that time. I'll do my best to give you accurate information. Keep in mind though that traffic laws here vary slightly from state to state.
I just ask that you forgive my butchering of the English language. Once I returned to the states, the good teachers here managed to beat the civilized version of English out of me.

Hi Dan

A warm welcome from one newbie to another. I only joined yesterday but am starting to feel at home already and getting suggestions about my first tech. prob. which should now be sorted by tomorrow.

Incidentally, our second son has lived in the US for about ten years, first in CA and now in NC. He sells Auto TV commercials to dealerships.

Best wishes, enjoy the forum and making new like-minded friends.

Thank you for the welcome. Actually, I like the food.  Grin I lived there long enough to become aclimated and on my last trip there (last year) I was even old enough to hoist a few pints. Mind you, I did no driving. I have enough trouble keeping track of my side of the road here let alone trying to deal with the other side over there. As a pedestrian I could do a little pub crawling and all I had to remember was to look "both ways" before I even considered stepping into the street.

Hi Grimble. Thank you for the welcome. I live about 4 hours north of NC. Your son is in (my opinion) a much nicer place than CA. I was born in CA and lived there briefly as an adult but I grew up on the east coast (Maryland) and a little bit in the UK.
If your son is a scuba diver he will be in heaven there. NC has some of the best (best in my opinion) diving along the coast. Over 2,000 shipwrecks recorded there. Add to that, in rural and small town NC the people a a lot nicer than in CA.

Hi Gary. My next trip back I'll have to look you up. Don't know yet when that will be. I was supposed to be last month but as always, things came up. My last trip back was long overdue. Sadly, my old school had burnt down and the new one was a dissapointment. Still, I got a good chance to see some of the old places I played. My next time there I will spend a couple of days in East Sheen instead of just a few short hours.

Thank you for the welcome. In a few days I'll post some pics of the car. My better half has it right now and won't be back till after dark. I've never taken any pics of it before so I'll have to wait for daylight and my next days off. I should have some by Monday and I'll post them then.
