Hello, had an omega for a month
11. Nov 2007 at 13:09

hello, people!
i bought a '96 omega as a replacement for a '98 punto  Wink

well, it was stored for a year before i got it, and a lot was wrong with it. new crank sensor, new clutch (and the flywheel welded up and skimmed, dual-mass slack) new AFM, new rear spring, new trackrod end......
the list goes on!
the headgasket went last week, so its currently off the road (driving the punto again) while it gets skimmed.
So, the cost of repairs wasnt really worth the cost of the vehicle.

however, after it goes back on the road, i will be prepared to give it some love, it really is very nice to drive, and plenty power (could always use more tho!)

im still wondering whether to make it a long term car or not  Undecided

hello and welcome!

If that car will serve good to you after all repairs and you will gonna like it then keep it IMO, cos you get changed quite a bit of parts in the car already and you never know what you will buy next time....may be even worse.

Well, after 3 weeks, the engine is back together and running.  Thumbs Up!

HOWEVER i then imediately started to replace a very knackered track-rod end, and as i was tightening it up again, the treads sheared on the other end of the track-rod  Cry

oh well, maybe tomorrow night it will be sorted (the part is coming in on order tomorrow) *hoping*

out of 8 weeks of ownership, its only been running for 2-3 of them...... Roll Eyes
