Greetings

Hi all, I just thought it might be about time to join one of these here forums, my Omega's a 2001 on a 51 plate, it's a 2.6 in Nocturno Blue, CD spec, I bought it at 10 months old form a Vauxhall Main Dealers.

I'ts done me proud, it tows my caravan like a dream and has delivered 120,000 + miles with only the slightest of genuine problems ( the gear selector / programme thingy died.... but I did park it in a big puddle so I musn't grumble)

However other problems that I have had seem to have been CAUSED by main dealers, let me tell you a storey or two.....

At 40,000 miles I had my servicing done in installments..... " we can't do your cam belt sir.... they sent the wrong one" THEY ffs, THEY !...... this is a mian dealer we're on about...... thier answer..... ooo just pop it back sir and we'll do it next week.......

At 60,000 miles at the same dealership I had to fight to get them to change my gearbox oil (due every 60k so says the book), they had to ring technical at vauxhall before they believed me..... and ooo yeah it took 3 attempts cos THEY sent the wrong bits.... I hope you're all wondering who THEY are as much as I am!!!

At 80,000 miles the cam belt and the spark plugs are due to be replaced, well I thought I might try a different dealership...... It would appear I would fair no better...... at around the 100,000 miles in a lovely village in Dorset my beloved Omega devolped a missfire and the dash lit up with the 'please don't drive me anymore' light...... so I called for a recovery truck and had my trusty steed delivered to where I bought it from.
Now that was a Sunday, they rang me on Tuesday to ask if it would be a problem for me if they looked at my car on Thursday, instead of the Wednesdeay that they had promised. Needless to say I got the steed recovered to a nice independant garage, they not only looked at it same day.... but fixed it same day and Nigel showed me why it had put the dreaded don't drive me light on..... I had 3 spark plugs that were nearly new and 3 that had worn to the point of not being able to spark anymore, or at least not without a 1.21 jiggawatts jolt from a flux capacitor (bet you can't guess what side the worn out ones are from). Has anyone else suffered this fraudulent approach to servicing? It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the plugs that they ripped me off for, it cost me a coil pack too! I did approach the main dealer with this evidence..... I asked them to comment, Here's the reply, "we don't do that sort of thing sir, I'll look into it and ring you back" THEY never did!

Now here we are at 129,000 miles and an issue with the crank position sensor, I honestly don't have a beef with that at all. It's not a major problem, I found the answer on here in ten minutes, but what does concern me is the other errors that were present in the onboard computer, one of wich was the low fuel pressure warning.
Now I have the invoices that say THEY changed the fuel filters many times, but it would appear that THEY did not, the result was that I shelled out yet another £500 plus VAT for the nice men at the really nice independant garage to put a new fuel pump and crank position sensor on the trusty stead.

Should I name names? I have the invoices and the removed parts! should I start a one man crusade to rid us all of Main Dealer Servicing?

BTW the Nice garage is in Kings Norton, Birmingham, it's called Kings Norton Garage, the guy I deal with is called Nigel, he's not pretty nor is his garage, they don't do mates rates or loan cars but they do carry out the work that's on the invoice, and THEY delivered my car to me at 6:30 in the PM

Wow that was some tirade for a debut, but on a sensible note, thanks for the info that pointed me to the crank position sensor, I look forward to being an active member on this great forum!

Cheers all

Nem....
