Another Hello!
02. Jan 2008 at 21:58

Hi Everybody,

And a Happy New Year to you all.

Strictly speaking, I shouldn't really be on this forum as I don't own an Omega... yet.  I hope to change that as I'm a prospective buyer and am currently looking at a 2001 2.6 CDX Manual with about 60k miles on the clock.  I've stumbled accross the forum by accident and am glad I found it.  I originally set out to buy an E240 Merc but, damn, the Omegas are great value for money.  Something of a hidden motoring gem.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and if this purchase doesn't work out, maybe something may come up in this forum in the for sale section.

Regards,

TR

Thanks to everyone for the kind words of welcome so far.

Yes, thanks for the tip.  I had a quick read in the forum here and found out about the belts.  40k isn't long is it?  Most cars I've had are around 60k.  The car I'm looking at has a fully stamped Vauxhall service history and she had the betls done at 40k.

I initially started looking for a 2.2,  but then I though I might as well go for the V6 as I intend to convert her to "LPG".  I already run a car on LPG and I wouldn't go back to derv.

The choice for Omega's in N. Ireland isn't great and all the choice is over in the mainland UK.  Anyone in the forum from N.I. by the way?

Cheers

Tim

SmileyWelcome aboard. BMW & MERC make great cars, had 'em both, still got an old merc but a Mig certainly gives you alot of "bang for your buck" The 2.6 sounds good.
Post some piccies if you get it. Thumbs Up!

Hi Guys,

Just a wee update.  I was bidding on a V6 2.6 Omega on ebay but thanks to talktalk, my broadband went down just when I needed to get on for the final stages of the auction and I lost out.  I'm a bit disappointed, but that's the way it goes.

So, I'm in the market for a Mig.  Here's my wishlist.  A 2.2 or 2.6, 01>, 60k miles or less, manual, saloon prefered, leather seats a bonus, budget is £2500 but could maybe push to £3k for a klinker.  (I have to allow costs to bring it over to N.I. which costs about £300).

1) I know the above may sound like a tall order, but you never know.
2) I've posted this in the wrong place, but I can't seem to post in the appropriate "wanted" section as I need 51 posts.  Maybe some kind soul from admin could move it for me?

Thanks.

Hi Fellas,

I have finally bought an Omega.  After starting off looking for a 2000> 2.2, a test drive in a 2.5 confirmed that I had to have the full fat 3.2.  So, given my budget of £3k and the fact that hey're like hens teeth, I looked for a 3.2 manual.... and found one.

The car that I've bought is an ex-police 2002 Omega 3.2 MV6 in the obligatory white with 50k miles on the clock.  I bought it for under budget but she does need some body work and a major service which  I'll mention in the "help" section.  I can't wait to get her up and running.

Sorry, I don't have any photos as of yet.  She's a sight for sore eyes right now.  When I get her cleaned up a bit, I'll post some pics up.
