Happy New Year
07. Jan 2008 at 19:44

Just joined, hi everybody. I've had my 1999 2.5td CDX estate from nearly new (6000mls). I think it is a superb car, especially since I had it chipped, and it drives beautifully, and is very comfortable - I'm 6'4". It is the best load lugger I've ever owned, and is at its best on long motorway journeys. I have now done only 80,000mls, it still uses only about a ltr of oil between changes. The only complaint I have with it is the stupid 7,500 oil change requirement, with 10,000 mile service intervals. However as I do most of it myself I adjust intervals as required. I have had no trouble with the vehicle other than a door check mechanism failing, pre-heaters changed, and of course the sump plug thread stripping, a Vauxhall dealers fault. The only other car I ever had as good and reliable as this was a 1959 Beetle, and I expect to keep this for a few more years yet, as I can't see anything as good available.

Cheers

Welcome to the site.

I think you'll find oil change is 4.5k max...  ...personally, I'd stick to 3k...
